CHICAGO - August 11, 2006 - Preferred Hotel Group's new Preferred Golf™ initiative prominently showcases its member collection of many of the world's premier golf destinations to travel agents, meeting planners, golf tour operators and the traveling public. This comprehensive program will enhance awareness of the unique and growing array of golf resorts within the Preferred HotelsŪ & Resorts portfolio. An initial roster of 33 resort members is expected to grow in the coming months of the program.

"We believe we have the finest collection of independent golf courses in the world," said John Ueberroth, Chairman and CEO, Preferred Hotel Group, in announcing the initiative. "We want to ensure that travelers and the travel community know about each and every one of them."

High on Preferred Hotel Group's "leader board" currently is The K Club in County Kildare, Ireland. Venue for the 2006 Ryder Cup, The K Club boasts two 18-hole Arnold Palmer-designed championship golf courses one of which also hosts the annual Smurfit European Open. Several other of Ireland's finest golf resorts are members, including Dromoland Castle Hotel in County Clare and Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links in Dublin.

In the United States, Preferred Golf™'s esteemed collection includes The Lodge at Pebble Beach and The Inn at Spanish Bay, both in Pebble Beach California; The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, Kiawah Island, South Carolina; The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs, Colorado; The Cloister, Sea Island, Georgia and Kingsmill Resort, Williamsburg, Virginia.

The Caribbean region features Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas and Sandy Lane, St. James, Barbados.

Among the other elite members worldwide are Porto Elounda De Luxe Resort in Crete, Greece and Palmeraie Golf Palace & Resort in Marrakech, Morocco.

Preferred Hotel Group, in partnership with American Express, is currently highlighting the features and benefits associated with its golf resorts in several ways:

  • Introduction of a new website: www.PreferredGolf.com which is the one-stop information portal for news, promotions and events as well as an online directory of Preferred Golf™ members;
  • Distribution of a Preferred Golf™ quick reference guide to a select group of meeting and incentive planners and small business owners who feel golf is a key component in their meeting selection process;
  • Development and distribution of a 52-page Preferred Hotel Group member directory to top travel agents and meeting and incentive planners. These are also available online and at participating resorts;

These developments comprise the first phase of the program which will also be expanded to more directly target the consumer market through a membership club concept that will provide special golf-related privileges and offerings as an extension of the recently introduced I Prefer™ Global Guest Benefit Program. Details will follow in the coming months. For more information on Preferred Golf™, log onto www.PreferredGolf.com.
